Overcoming Resentment
July is one of the most important months of 2023 because of one major event: the nodes of the Moon are changing signs for the first time in 18 months on July 12th 2023 until January 29th 2025. As if this wasn’t enough, also, as the nodes change into Libra and Aries, Pluto in Capricorn is squaring the nodes. This is a major energetic shift for the collective, and works in two different ways. For starters, the nodes changing into the Libra/Aries axis says a lot about the babies who will be born over the next 18 months regarding their karma. This is a big subject that goes beyond the scope of this newsletter, but let’s just say that kids born during this time will have strong Libran karma that they are carrying over into the current incarnation. Libran karma can mean a lot of different things, but generally speaking, it represents past life experiences where relationship was the biggest hurdle for these kids. Now let’s focus on how the nodes shifting signs will affect the collective moving forward. We can first focus on the south node changing from Scorpio to Libra. The transiting south node represents the collective karma that has ripened. It’s something we need to work with that has grown a bit sour amidst the sea of people. Therefor, we describe the south node signs more negatively, and focus on how it can serve as a stumbling block in our collective evolution. As I’ve talked about before, the south node traveling through Scorpio has been dramatic. It’s an emotional sign that can be vulnerable to a moody heaviness. This derives from the negative aspects of our history that haven’t been karmically balanced yet, and has weighed heavy on the hearts of people, above average. This pain not yet transmuted and healed, has expressed itself in destructive ways and created a psychodrama within the collective – driving people further apart.
This 18 month emotional storm has lead us to this point of the south nodal entry into Libra. Now Libra has some amazingly beautiful qualities to it, but again, we focus on the more negative side, and recognize that the Scorpio storm is transforming into dark side Libra. As I said in the first paragraph, Libra is a relational sign. It’s the sign of balance and harmony, and is a sign predisposed to playing nice. I suppose on one level, us “playing nice” is a welcome change after the hyper reactive emotional chaos we’ve been through. However, since some of the sting of the Scorpio is still there, it can manifest as a Libra dark side of resentment. Libra is vulnerable to passive aggressive behavior, and too much compromise and passive aggressiveness leads to resentment, and then falls deeper into full-blown contempt. Libra is a sign that strives for harmonious relationships, but the irony is, if we fall into the Libra trap of resentment, the opposite outcome is achieved.
There is another dark potential with Libra. It’s a sign vulnerable to indecision. The old astrologers had an interesting image for shadow side Libra: a perfectly healthy mule that starved to death equidistant between two full troughs of oats. Libra can be caught in a stasis of fear of making the wrong decision. This waffling energy can really bite us in the butt if we let it – especially during the elections in the US. Libra can be a more passive energy that can result in inaction which can have a negative impact. It’s important for us to not sit idly by watching things happen, and of course this energy affects us in every pocket of the world. The south node has such a charge to it, dragging us down into the doldrums of that energy because it’s what we are trying to learn to heal and grow beyond.
Now, let’s talk about the North node entering into Aries. The node north represents the karmic medicine pouch for us all. It’s the antidote for the darker excesses of the Libra south node. The thing is, the north node is very difficult to reach. Unlike the south node, the north node doesn’t have a charge to it because it’s neutral. It’s nothing but a good idea. Until January 2025, we are going to be attempting to get our “Aries on”, so to speak. Aries is the classic Warrior archetype. First let me say something obvious, there’s awful side of the Warrior, just like all the signs, so allow me to recommend not manifesting the egoic expressions of anger, hatred, vitriol, fear, and pride. Which, if we as a collective harbor too much Libran contempt, some of that anger can leak out destructively.
With the north node, we want to focus all our attention on the highest octave expression of the Warrior. A Warrior who does not come from the ego, is a force to be reckoned with. The love based Warrior embodies the qualities of strength and courage. The Warrior can rise to a challenge and not flinch the face of evil. The healthy Warrior is motivated to be a Hero, and protect those who can’t protect themselves. There is a tremendous willpower and temerity with the Warrior, who can bravely rise to a challenge. The Warrior doesn’t waffle, it is instead about decisive action. It knows when to draw a line in the sand and say “enough is enough! I will not be taken advantage of anymore” Setting healthy boundaries as a act of self-love and love of others is possible. We just need to be very careful that these actions are not motivated by resentment, anger, pride, and ego. It’s a delicate process.
It’s important to ask ourselves the evolutionary questions:
How have I compromised too much of my needs in my relationships?
I am being indecisive in an area of my life that is detrimental to my growth?
Evolutionary mantras:
I face my fear to evoke courage.
I am a person of loving action.
I stand for truth and honesty, and will speak truth in a loving way.
These are the core evolutionary intentions, with the goal always – to expand our consciousness.
