Labor of Love
With Venus entering Virgo on the 5th, the Sun being in Virgo until the 22nd, and Mercury retrograding into Virgo on the 23rd, orienting our thoughts and intentions to Virgoan evolutionary intentions is a powerful practice in September. Analysis without paralysis is the aim, improvement is the game. As we prepare to enter a new season, Virgo energy motivates to take inventory of our internal and external reality. A great Virgo evolutionary question to ask this month is: “How can I make improvements in my life?”. To make this question even more precise, look to where the sign of Virgo is in your personal birth chart, and this will point to a more specific area of your life to work on. Work is a good word for industrious Virgo energy. It’s a good month to roll up our sleeves and work towards perfection by ironing out one wrinkle at a time.
With Venus entering into Virgo, this also places an emphasis on our relationships. The suggestion of making our relationships a labor of love doesn’t sound sexy, but it’s a worthy goal. Virgo always wants perfection, and if we can couple that intention with the understanding that that is an impossible standard, but also a good one to strive for, we are on the right track. With Venus in Virgo, it’s good to fine tune our learning about the skills and the craft of loving. Now starting with a mature perspective here – to live under one roof, in deep intimacy with another human being, has always been rather challenging for humans. Even for the easier relationships, there’s always the sense of work and often that work is really intense. There’s so many judgment calls about it.
Like for example, let’s say you have a pet peeve with your partner. Should you talk about that? Or not? What’s the right answer? That question is really slippery, and really complicated. What’s the difference between being honest and doing maintenance on the relationship and dealing with things and not letting them fester, on one hand, and on the other hand, just nagging another person over trivialities? And the same behavior could be interpreted in both ways. The person nagging will say “I’m doing maintenance work on the relationship”, and the person receiving it will say “you are just nagging!” Ask the angels whose right and the angels say both of you. Two legitimate perspectives. A good Venus in Virgo answer is I don’t know. I’m going to get it wrong sometimes. Humility is a high expression of Virgo, and when we apply Venus to Virgo – humility in relationships.
Developing more humility is an excellent practice right now. Especially with another dominant aspect happening this month – Mercury is in a 6 week long opposition to Jupiter in Aries. Jupiter in Aries is a very individualistic, assertive, fiery, and independent energy. If manifested more negatively, can lead to self-righteous behavior coupled with a use of too much force. Meanwhile, Mercury (the planet that rules Virgo), is in Libra (Venus’s natural sign), opposed to that potentially ego inflated energy of Jupiter in Aries. This emphasizes the tension between self and the other. Amongst the collective over these next 6 weeks, we will see MUCH more ego laced impulsive reactions driven by combative competition and a desire to dominate others. Pride is always the ultimate challenge for human personalities, but especially right now.
One thing I’ve been doing recently in honor of Virgo, is repeating the simple mantra of “humility, humility, humility”. During my day, as I catch myself having a more prideful thought, emotion, or action, I stop that train, and pivot back to the humility mantra. Rinse and repeat. Again, and again, and again. If I continue to be steadfast, I incrementally feed power into the virtue of humility, and slowly suck the life out of my egoism. I’ve been feeding my pride demon for so many lifetimes, that it is a vicious beast to be sure, but I must remain focused. My evolution depends on it. The more I work to dissolve aspects of my egoism, the more my Soul Life Light can shine through me. Virgo says “That’s the work, let’s be focused on being pure and impeccable in every moment”.
The energy of September will create more relational tension for the reasons I’ve been describing. Also, Virgo on the negative side (if laced by pride), can be hyper critical of others. If we combine that with the opposition between self and other through (Jupiter in Aries/Mercury in Libra), this creates potentially destructive situations where a group or persons pride clashes with the others, and increases the energy of both because they feed off each other. This will only end in the creation of more suffering and no resolution or reconciliation is possible.
Circling back to Venus in Virgo, I think that a healthy assessment of the relationships in your life could be a strong way to work with this. Analyze the more troubling or toxic relationships in your life, and especially your own behavior in them. These more challenging relationships can serve as blessings if we allow them to be catalysts for personal growth. These relationships can really bring out the worst in us, and these can be reminders of aspects of our own egoism we can humbly work on. If you can work to correct your negative behavior in the relationship, and instead come with your Soul energy which is unconditional love, you will often open up that Soul energy in the other person because like attracts like when we are talking about emotional and thought energies. However, there are some people that are so lost in their extremely powerful pride demons that no matter how much love you bring it can’t penetrate their blind egoism. If that’s the case, then perhaps this person is not a good person to have in your life, and out an act of self-love, creating a separation between you might be the best move.
The recognition of the positive and negative potentials that are emphasized right now gives us keys insights into the magic of the spheres, and how they are energetically influencing the collective right now. How we use our free will within that matrix is where the magic unfolds.
These are the core evolutionary intentions, with the goal always – to expand our consciousness.
